w&c was
created by Jo Alcorn founder of whitewash & co an interior design company.
As a design specialist Jo felt there was a need to find furniture with great
quality. w&c was designed on the principle of quality and relating back to the roots of the traditional way of making
furniture. Making sure the furniture was created with solid/ hardwoods for
strength and durability and going back to the old fashion way of using deep
coil, jute and hemp support, and certain stitching and padding techniques for great strength and durability.
w&c was
created for pieces to be passed down through generations with a main focus on creating an eco friendly product. We
believe the green movement is important for this generation and the generations
to come. That is why environmentally friendly stains, paints, foam, glues, fabrics, and
only FSC approved wood is used in our furniture. We are formaldehyde fee as well, eliminating off gassing. We also believe by keeping the carbon
foot print down it will strengthen the economy and support local businesses. A high percentage of all materials that go into our furniture are Canadian made. What a better way to start a movement than within your home. Given Jo's degree from a Liberal Art School in New York City, a semester abroad at London England's City University, her experience on HGTV and Discovery Channel's Design shows, she is driven to constantly be searching and improving the product knowledge on environmentally friendly pieces. Her experience with Fortune 500 companies have come into play with an ever so turning and demanding market for quality eco-friendly products and materials, w&c is constantly evolving with the environmental movement.
